MICHAEL “Mikey” WREN
So, who said you have to be an adult to make a positive difference in the world? Michael “Mikey” Wren is a twelve (12) year old entrepreneur and author. At the age of eight (8), he started a vending company in St. Louis called Mikey’s Munchies Vending. He now has eight (8) machines with a business plan for adding more. He also authored an Amazon best-selling children’s book, Mikey Learns About Business and Biz is a Wiz, a book written for children pre-K to 3rd grade. Mikey was honored with the Made Moguls 2018 Black Tie Community Award for youth entrepreneur of the year. He also served as Honorary Junior Grand Marshall in the Missouri Thanksgiving parade. A month later, he set a goal to collect 100 toys to give away to students in his school district. With the help of the community, he exceeded his goal and collected more than 500 toys. For his young entrepreneurial and philanthropic spirt, Wren was selected to join Kidbox’s annual kids board of directors. He advised Kidbox on upcoming fashion trends, while learning firsthand from top executives in the philanthropy and fashion industry. He pitched ideas to these top execs in a “Shark Tank-type” session. He was awarded the opportunity to donate $10,000 in clothing from Kidbox to his local community.
Mikey views an entrepreneur as a problem solver. You see a problem in your community and create a solution to make a positive change. One of the problems he saw in his community was a lack of financial literacy. So, Mikey acts as a leader in his community, teaching money management, public speaking, leadership and entrepreneurship skills to his peers. Mikey says the best part of being an entrepreneur is making money in his sleep and making a positive impact in his community. There is no doubt we will hear more about this outstanding African American who is not yet a teenager. Remember the name Michael “Mikey” Wren; and also remember, it’s never too early or late to make your mark in the world.
